NVU vs. 0.80
Beschreibung: Nvu (gesprochen "N-View") ist ein benutzerfreundlicher HTML-Editor, dessen Handhabung bei der Entwicklung einer Website ähnlich einfach und komfortabel ist, wie man es von den bekannten WYSIWYG-Programmen wie Dreamweaver, Frontpage, GoLive & Co. kennt.
Nvu wurde von den Lindows Entwicklern geschaffen und basiert auf der Mozilla-Plattform und deren Layout-Engine Gecko. Die aktuelle Version der Software setzt inzwischen auf die Code-Basis von Firefox 1.0 und ist bestens für bestens für das Zusammenspiel mit anderen Mozilla-Applikationen gerüstet.
Der Webeditor dient der WYSIWYG-Bearbeitung von HTML-Seiten und anderen Internetinhalten. Nvu verfügt über eine übersichtliche Benutzeroberfläche mit einer Symbolleiste, vielfältige Funktionen für das Einfügen von Bildern, Formularen, Tabellen und sonstigen Formatierungen, einen Site-Manager mit Tab-Unterstützung und ein Datei-Management per FTP. Eine Normal-, die HTML-Tag-, Quellcode-Ansicht und die Vorschau stehen wie gewohnt zur Verfügung.
Die größte Neuerung des aktuellen NVU 1.0 Beta Pre-Release 3 ist die experimentelle XHTML-Unterstützung sowie die Möglichkeit, PHP-Code direkt mit Nvu bearbeiten zu können. Nach Herstellerangaben wurde die Stabilität und Zuverlässigkeit der Software weiter verbessert!

Beschreibung: Please note that despite what the GUI installer may suggest. apache 1 & 2 are both installed as services by default ! - you are advised for now to disable the apache2 service by going into control panel > administrative options > services and change the dev5_ap2 service to manual start as opposed to automatic start - you can still start apache2 from the dev5 GUI if you want to play. (apache2 is now installed to listen at port 81 by default)
Due to the recent security advisory PHP4.2.1 needs to be swapped to php4.2.2 - give me a day or so. (done)
Some peeps appear to have a read-only php.ini, this will stop dev5 from fully installing !! remove the read only restriction.
Dev5 should install anywhere however it appears that it does not install to directories with a space in the directory name - i.e. program files , that will be fixed for the next update!
